Apprentices are typically between\u00a0<strong>17 and 21 years of age<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Applications to audition for the\u00a0<strong>2027\/28 nboc2 Apprentice Programme<\/strong>\u00a0will be accepted from\u00a0<strong>October 1 to December 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Selected applicants will receive a formal invitation to audition by email between\u00a0<strong>December 18 and 26, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A maximum of\u00a0<strong>60 candidates<\/strong>\u00a0will be invited to audition in person for the\u00a0<strong>nboc2 Apprentice Programme<\/strong>\u00a0at The National Ballet of Canada\u2019s studios in Toronto on\u00a0<strong>Sunday, January 31, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please do not make travel arrangements until you have received a formal invitation to attend the audition.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Compensation for apprentices is established under the\u00a0<strong>Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)<\/strong>\u00a0between The National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Actors\u2019 Equity Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caea.com\/Portals\/0\/Documents\/Dance\/NBCA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Ballet of Canada Agreement (NBCA)<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>The National Ballet of Canada does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess or select applicants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Audition Pre-Selection Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants should submit the following materials:<\/p>\n<p> \t<strong>Video:<\/strong>\u00a0A YouTube or Vimeo link with no introduction or elaborate editing. Female applicants should perform in a leotard and tights; male applicants should wear close-fitting dance attire. The video should include:<\/p>\n<p> \tA short classical variation drawn from the standard repertoire, performed in pointe shoes by female applicants.<br \/>\n \tA short contemporary variation demonstrating a range of movement distinct from the classical variation. This may be drawn from repertoire, phrases from classwork or an applicant-created work.<\/p>\n<p> \t<strong>CV:<\/strong>\u00a0A .pdf, .doc or .docx file that includes your email address, postal address, height, date of birth, citizenship, training and performance experience.<br \/>\n \t<strong>Headshot<\/strong><br \/>\n \t<strong>Dance photos:<\/strong>\u00a0Two to three dance photos in .pdf format that clearly show the dancer\u2019s body proportions and line.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever possible, video footage should be filmed at a distance that allows the dancer to be clearly seen.
