Ballet Sur_real is the official ballet ensemble of DANCÆ, founded in 2023. The collective of professional ballet dancers creates choreographic works that combine neoclassical ballet with electronic music. The ensemble integrates immersive installations and innovative technologies into its choreographic language, and its network spans various art forms.
Soraya Schulthess founded the company. She trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia and performed with the Boris Eifman Ballet in Saint Petersburg before returning to Germany to work with Deutsche Oper in Berlin. Her performance repertoire has included works by Marius Petipa, Mikhail Fokin, Jiri Killian, and William Forsythe.
The ensemble presents productions in Berlin. Its works include “Modalities of Me,” “Chasing Nothing,” “KÖRPERFABRIK,” “Daer,” “Bodies in Flow,” and “Bodies in Sound.” The project “Bodies in Sound” received 40,000 EUR in funding from the Berlin Hauptstadtkulturfonds. Ballet Sur_real is available for bookings and collaborations.
