Fabric is a strategic dance development organisation formed in 2022 through the merger of Dance4 in Nottingham and DanceXchange in Birmingham. Operating as a registered charity, it maintains sites in both cities and works to develop the artform while supporting dance artists and choreographers in creating and advancing their practice.
The organisation offers adult dance classes in Birmingham and Nottingham, with styles including ballet at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, contemporary, hip hop, commercial, jazz, waacking and vogue, house, disco, Bollywood and urban fusion. Classes operate on a pay-as-you-go basis and participants can join at any time during the term. Fabric also runs Centre for Advanced Training programmes, an outreach and education programme, and continuing professional development sessions for dance and PE teachers.
Fabric produces festivals and performances, provides studio space, and offers residencies for dance artists. The organisation works with schools, venues, local authorities and other partners across local, national and international contexts. Concession pricing is available for people with disabilities, and adjustments can be made to support participation in classes and projects.
