Kayzer Ballet is a dance company based in Covilhã, Portugal, founded by choreographer and artistic director Ricardo Runa. The company was established to decentralize dance in Portugal by bringing performances beyond Lisbon and Porto to local communities. It produces original works and presents performances at venues including Teatro Municipal da Covilhã, with productions choreographed by Runa and guest artists such as Marcos Morau, Marco Goecke, and André Mesquita. The company has presented over 90 productions to more than 150,000 spectators across 12 seasons.
The company maintains an international ensemble of dancers from countries including Italy, Russia, Spain, Japan, Germany, and the United States. It offers a 10-month trainee program from September to June that includes ballet company class, contemporary classes, repertoire study, and choreographic laboratories, with limited places and potential progression to apprentice positions.
Kayzer Ballet also operates a dance school, established in 2015, offering classical ballet classes from age 5 and contemporary dance classes from age 7, with classes available for adults in both styles.
