Detmold State Theatre is a performing arts company based in Detmold, Germany. The organisation creates productions in four main areas. These include opera, spoken plays, ballet, and theatre for young audiences. The company stages these performances using its own team of actors, singers, dancers, and the musicians of the Detmold Symphonic Orchestra.
The company plans a full season of regular shows in its home city every year. It also works as a large touring organisation. The performance groups travel regularly to present their plays, dances, and operas at more than a hundred different guest stages across Germany and in nearby European countries.
The theatre’s yearly schedule includes classic and modern operas, operettas, traditional plays, and ballet shows. The organisation also runs learning and outreach programmes. These activities offer theatre projects, acting workshops, and school shows that are made specifically for children and young adults.
