Theater Hagen is a performing arts organisation based in the city of Hagen, Germany. Founded in 1911, the company produces several different types of stage performances. Its regular seasonal programmes include opera, ballet, drama, and classical music concerts. The organisation works with its own resident orchestra, the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra. This orchestra plays the music for the opera pieces and also performs independent concert events throughout the year.
The institution includes a resident dance group called Ballett Hagen. This permanent dance ensemble creates and performs contemporary dance and ballet productions as part of the company’s main stage season.
Along with adult shows, Theater Hagen runs a specific children and youth theatre division called LUTZ. This department creates plays for younger audiences. The company also organises educational programmes. Through the LUTZ division, Theater Hagen provides theatre clubs, educational workshops, and outreach activities for local schools and young people in the community.
