Onyx School of Performing Arts provides structured triple-threat training in dance, drama, and singing for children aged 3 to 11. The school operates from two locations in Surrey: Kingston College in Kingston upon Thames and St Mary’s Church in Walton-on-Thames. Classes are organized into age-specific programs including Little Dynamites for ages 3–5 and The Firecrackers for ages 6–11. The school also offers phonics booster sessions for younger children, led by a qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience in primary education.
The curriculum includes storytelling, role-play, script work, improvisation, mime, and physical theatre. Singing classes cover breath control, vocal projection, and acting through song. The pre-school dance program uses a syllabus endorsed by early learning experts. Onyx is a registered exam centre for Trinity College London and I-PATH, offering Ofqual-regulated graded exams. Students can take Trinity Acting Exams.
All students participate in performance opportunities including an annual showcase, public performances, and cinema screenings. Every child receives a speaking role in productions, and costumes are provided. The school also delivers workshops and PPA cover to local nurseries and schools, and runs holiday camps that combine performing arts with other activities.
