Richmond Ballet School has been operating since 1910. Valerie A. Draper became Co-Founder and Director in 1980, and Adele Rockett serves as Principal. The school provides dance classes in ballet, modern, tap, and jazz for students from age 2½ through to adults in a non-pressured environment.
The teaching staff have experience instructing all age groups across ballet, modern, tap, and jazz. Classes focus on enjoyment of dance and music while building technical skills and encouraging individual creativity. Training progresses from beginner to pre-vocational level, with students working toward RAD and ISTD examinations.
The school organizes annual shows and offers regular exam opportunities through the Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Class durations range from 30 minutes to one hour, with student categories including Junior, Teen, and Senior levels. Junior students take ballet, modern, tap, and jazz, while Senior students have additional options including intermediate ballet and pointe work.
