The Moderne School of Theatre Dance was founded in September 2020 in Hampton, UK, by Lynsey Delaforte, who holds BA (HONS) and ANATD qualifications and had taught for 15 years at dance schools in London and Surrey. The school operates from All Saints Church Hall in Hampton and states it aims to nurture creativity and artistry in a safe and inclusive environment.
The school offers ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary classes for children and adults. Children’s classes include Tiny Dancers for ages 3+, Pre-Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet, and graded ballet from Grade 1 through Grade 4, as well as Contemporary and Jazz for ages 12+. The ballet curriculum combines RAD and NATD based syllabi with complementary exercises. Adult classes include three levels of tap (beginner, improver and intermediate) and two levels of ballet (general open class and intermediate), all non-syllabus.
The school does not use formal examinations, focusing instead on building technique and stagecraft in a structured environment. Children’s classes run in three 10-week terms per academic year, while adult classes run in three 12-week terms.
