Area Dance is a professional training space for dancers in Milan, founded in 2007 by Giuseppe Galizia. The school operates as an ASD/SSD and offers programs for children, adolescents, and adults. Artistic Director Michele Villanova, a former principal dancer at Teatro alla Scala, developed the teaching method based on the Vaganova system with influences from his studies with Victor Uxusnikov, Assaf M. Messerer, and other teachers. The method emphasizes upper-body work, port de bras, and posture.
The school offers daily open classes for professional and advanced dancers, children’s and teen programs, and musical theatre training for ages 14 to 19. The Giovani al Centro academy includes two programs: GAC Formativo, a one-year course with three weekly classical technique lessons, and GAC Accademico, a two-year program with eight or nine weekly lessons covering classical, pointe, pas de deux, repertory, modern, and male technique. The musical pathway includes classical dance, jazz Broadway style, singing, and acting. The facility has five studios, with the largest measuring 185 square meters.
