Tanz Münster is the dance division of Theater Münster, operating under the direction of Lillian Stillwell, who serves as both dance director and chief choreographer. The company consists of 12 ensemble members and presents more than 50 performances and educational activities each season. The repertoire includes full-length dance evenings, cross-disciplinary works, and formats for emerging choreographic talent, with productions performed at Theater Münster’s Großes Haus, Kleines Haus, and Studio venues.
The company’s 2025/2026 season features works by five guest choreographers alongside productions by Stillwell, including a reinterpretation of Swan Lake titled Die Schwäne, performed with the Munich Symphony Orchestra. Other productions include Frankenstein, a collective work after Mary Shelley’s novel, and INSIDE/OUT, created in collaboration with the LWL-Museum for Art and Culture Münster. The division also operates the Tanz Münster Studio, founded in 2022/23, which supports emerging dancers by allowing them to rehearse roles and step in for company members.
Community engagement includes TanzNAH, which brings dance to public spaces throughout the city since 2022, and Tanz Unlimited, an intergenerational dance experience held regularly in Theater Münster’s rehearsal spaces.
