The Dance Theatre of Harlem School provides classical ballet and dance training to students ages 3 to 18. The school follows the DTH curriculum for classical ballet classes and includes other dance disciplines in its programming. The school is directed by Tai Jimenez, with Augustus van Heerden serving as Associate Director for Upper and Lower School and Rachel Afi Sekyi as Associate Director for the Tendu Program.
The school operates a Fall/Spring Program from September through May, divided into Lower and Upper School divisions. Summer programming includes two-week intensive sessions for ages 8-24 with varying experience levels, and a Summer Minis Dance Camp for children ages 5-7. Saturday drop-in classes are available for ages 8-17 throughout the academic year, offering ballet, Afro Pop, and Hip-Hop with no prior experience required. Students in the Summer Intensives study ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, West African dance, partnering, and yoga, with showings for families at the end of sessions.
The school is located at the Everett Center for the Performing Arts on West 152nd Street in New York City. New students participate in placement classes in August before enrolling in the Fall/Spring Program.
