Theater Nordhausen/Loh-Orchester Sondershausen is a performing arts company based in Nordhausen, Germany. The current organisation was created in 1991 when the Nordhausen theatre company merged with the Loh-Orchester from the nearby town of Sondershausen. It is a multi-genre company that produces classical opera, operetta, ballet, and theatre plays.
The institution’s resident ballet group performs original dance productions throughout the year. The Loh-Orchester Sondershausen provides live music for the company’s operas and ballets, and it also plays regular symphony concerts. In addition to adult programming, the organisation runs a youth division called Junges Theater. This department creates performances specifically for children and teenagers, and it provides theatre clubs for young people.
During the summer, the company organises the Thüringer Schlossfestspiele Sondershausen. This annual festival features opera and theatre performances staged outdoors in the courtyard of the Sondershausen Palace.
