Ballet Papillon is a non-profit professional ballet company based in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 2022 by Katina Kumar, who serves as Founding Artistic Director and Executive Director, the company states its mission as delivering freedom and healing through the art of ballet. The organization describes itself as using movement as a method of communication to serve people who may be isolated by disability, illness, cultural, or other differences. The company’s repertoire includes original neoclassical ballets and contemporary pieces.
The company presents a performance season titled “Après Deux” for 2025–2026. Ballet Papillon also operates The Papillon Project, a two-week professional company experience with daily rehearsals that culminates in a main stage production. The Summer 2026 project features guest choreographer Christian Denice and will debut at the Lewisville Grand Theater in August 2026. The company holds auditions for professional dancers with classical and contemporary training for both paid and unpaid positions.
Ballet Papillon runs Artists in Motion, a program offering complimentary or donation-based professional-level technique classes for dancers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Classes are held Monday through Friday at Tuzer Dance School in Richardson, Texas, and include access to wellness services.
