SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana is a performing arts company based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The organisation produces and performs a regular season of classical and contemporary operas, as well as classical ballets and modern dance works. The national company officially began its work in 1918.
The institution includes resident opera soloists, a ballet ensemble, a choir, and a symphony orchestra. Throughout the annual season, these groups perform traditional repertoire from historical composers alongside new pieces by modern creators. The programme features music sung in original languages and works translated into Slovenian.
Beyond scheduled performances at its home venue in Ljubljana, the company travels for national and international tours. SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana works directly with other theatres and arts groups to build co-productions and present guest artists. The organisation also stages specific performances and provides educational experiences designed directly for children and young audiences.
