The Zagreb City Theatre Komedija is a professional performing arts company based in Zagreb, Croatia. It was created in November 1950 when the Zagreb Drama Theatre and the Kerempuh Variete joined together. The company focuses on producing musical theatre and comedic plays for local and national audiences.
The theatre’s regular programming includes operettas, musicals, and spoken comedies. To perform these large shows, the organisation employs its own regular staff of actors and singers. The company also maintains its own permanent choir, ballet group, and musical orchestra. The repertoire features both translated international musicals and original Croatian works, including rock operas.
Komedija presents its regular performance seasons at its home venue in Zagreb. In addition to its local shows, the company travels to present its productions at different festivals and theatrical venues throughout Croatia. The organisation creates new full-scale theatrical and musical shows each year.
